Custom Night Light With Picture Windows: Printing Your Pet Onto Acrylic

Most of the custom printing we talk about here goes onto paper, fabric or leather. One of the more unusual jobs goes onto clear acrylic and lights up at night: a photo night light.

For pet owners in Singapore it has become a popular way to keep a favourite face in the room, and a common choice as a pet memorial gift.

How a photo becomes a light

The process combines two techniques printers know well. The shape is laser-cut from clear acrylic, and the photos are UV-printed directly onto it. The acrylic then sits in a base that lights it from below, so the printed photos glow softly when the room is dark.

A custom night light with picture windows from Little Red Cute is cut in the shape of a paw. Each of the five pads is a photo window, so one light holds five photos of the same pet, framed the way you choose.

Choosing the photos

With five windows, the fun is in the selection. Some owners pick five photos from five different years. Others choose five moods: asleep, mid-zoomies, the begging face at dinner, the first day home, the favourite spot on the sofa. Because these are your actual photos and not a drawing, it is worth using the clearest, best-lit shots you have.

Sizes and bases

  • Two sizes: A5 or A4.
  • Three bases: choose the one that suits the room, including one with a built-in Bluetooth speaker.

As a memorial

Losing a pet is hard, and many owners look for something quieter than a framed photo on the wall. A night light that holds five photos and glows at the bedside is a gentle way to keep them close. It is also a thoughtful gift for a friend who has just lost a pet, as long as you have a few photos to work with.

Approve it before it is made

The layout is shown on screen before you pay, and nothing is printed until you approve it. You can check every window, the crop of each photo and how the paw looks as a whole.

Printing that stays on at night

Most printed things are made to be seen in daylight. A photo night light is printed for the moment the lights go off. For a pet who used to sleep at the end of the bed, that is exactly the right time.
